LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY DECREES PAID OFF FOR THE NATIONAL DAY FOR PEACE, LIFE AND JUSTICE.


Dear Friends and Clients:
Through Decree No. 952, issued on March 11, 2015, the Legislative Assembly approved with 44 votes a new national holiday, applicable to public and municipal employees and private workers, including employees of the Lempa River Hydroelectric Executive Commission. The holiday will be on March 26 of each year, the date on which the National Day for Peace, Life and Justice will be commemorated. The intention of the legislators is to make the Salvadoran people aware of the importance of working together for national security.
The Decree is not applicable to employees of the Ministry of Public Health, Salvadoran Institute of Social Security and National Civil Police. As for the employees of the Ministry of Finance, it will be the head of said Ministry who, at his discretion, will decide its application.
 Please take note that the employees and workers to whom the aforementioned Decree applies will enjoy paid leave that day. Employees and workers who work on that date will receive their basic salary plus an extraordinary salary of one hundred percent.
